2027 GMC Hummer EV Icon Preview

Hummer EV Icon | 25 Preview

While the original Humvee first made its mark with the U.S. military in the 1980s, it took several more years for the Hummer name to make an impact in the consumer market. In 2002, after acquiring the Hummer brand a few years earlier, General Motors launched the Hummer H2 at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The vehicle’s imposing proportions quickly made it one of the era's most recognizable vehicles. Twenty-five years later, GMC is marking that milestone with the 2027 Hummer EV Icon | 25, a limited-production edition that pays homage to the H2 while highlighting how much the nameplate has changed.

The Icon | 25 will be offered in the Hummer EV Pickup and Hummer EV SUV in 2X and 3X configurations. Heritage-inspired exterior and unique interior treatments will distinguish this anniversary edition from the broader Hummer EV lineup. Production is slated to begin in late 2026 at GM’s Factory ZERO facility in Michigan.

Exterior

An attention-getting paint job will distinguish the Icon | 25; GMC calls this hue Icon Yellow because it’s the same shade that graced many of the original Hummer H2s. A black front approach shield will provide contrast and reinforce the vehicle’s familiar upright appearance. GMC will also equip this special edition with newly designed 22-inch wheels accented by a Deep Void finish and center caps with Hummer EV lettering. The SUV variant will add an Icon Yellow insert to the rear-mounted spare wheel and tire cover. Beyond that, GMC will retain many of the signature features that make the Hummer EV stand out, including a wide stance, illuminated grille treatment, and removable Sky Panels that form part of the Infinity Roof.

Interior and Features

Although Hummer EV fans will instantly recognize the interior of the Icon | 25, there will be additional touches, including a serialized badge on the passenger side of the instrument panel, special graphics for the infotainment system’s drive-mode display, and an exclusive 25th-anniversary keepsake. A new Jet Black interior will be available, marking the first black interior color scheme offered on the Hummer EV. Every Icon | 25 will be available with Super Cruise hands-free highway driving. Depending on the configuration, buyers will also have access to the vehicle’s extensive camera system, including up to 18 available views on the Pickup.

Performance and Capability

GMC is offering powertrain flexibility with the Icon | 25, enabling buyers to choose either the 2X or 3X configuration. At the high end of the lineup, the 2027 Hummer EV 3X Pickup will produce up to a GM-estimated 1,160 horsepower when it’s equipped with the available 24-module battery. GMC estimates that configuration will accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in as little as 2.8 seconds.

The Hummer EV’s specialized chassis technology will also carry into 2027. Available 4-Wheel Steer enables CrabWalk, while King Crab mode increases rear-wheel steering for tighter off-road maneuvering. The available Air Ride Adaptive Suspension and Extract Mode can raise the vehicle by approximately 6 inches to help with traversing obstacles.

Charging and Power

Meanwhile, the entire 2027 Hummer EV lineup will benefit from a standard NACS charging port, doing away with the need for an adapter at compatible Tesla Superchargers and other NACS charging stations. The Hummer EV will continue to offer available vehicle-to-home (V2H) bidirectional charging capability. The technology can provide power to a properly equipped home during an outage.
